MARKET COMPLEXITY and the PHOENIX COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHER

Market complexity is changing the way we do business. Yesterday’s knowledge will not work today. With so many choices how do you assemble your marketing goals into a cohesive whole? How will different vendor’s styles break apart the whole? Is photography or video right for you? When marketing your brand, think of photography and video as one. They are both necessary in today’s market. Technology has made it easier to produce and distribute video alongside the photos already associated with your brand.

John Trotto Photography can save you time and money. One vendor for your photography and video will render one cohesive style for your brand. The time savings works both ways through familiarity with one vendor/client. You will save hundreds of dollars through volume discounts.

OLD KNOWLEDGE, or HOW YOU USED TO WORK.
Call your photographer, get great photos but they can’t capture a few video clips, and, oops, did you want audio too? Call your video production crew and they create a great set but can’t capture a great photo.

TOMORROW, or HOW YOU WILL WORK.
Save time, save money and get a cohesive look to your brand. He can provide all media, and, he won’t bring yesterday’s knowledge to the table. John is constantly learning new skills in photography and video.

New Skills
Trotto spent 4 years learning Apple’s Final Cut Studio 3, a standard in the video editing world. When Apple introduced Final Cut Pro X, much to the dismay of professional editors, he switched to Adobe’s Production Premium for his editing needs and has completed training in After Effects for motion graphics. Watch a 3D motion graphics video, “31 Years”, here. He currently uses both companies’ software to complete a video and will transition completely to Adobe in 2012. Most of Trotto’s videos incorporate photos. His advanced Photoshop skills are often used to retouch, composite and/or re-size images to be used in the timeline. Cruise America hired Trotto to produce a video that would help to sell reconditioned RVs in the United States. The video that Trotto and his associates produced, from script revisions to final output, was so successful that a second, revised version was edited for Cruise Canada.

What about photography? Trotto is one of the few architectural photographers in Phoenix who can create natural looking interior photos and exterior dusk photos with the HDR Technique (High Dynamic Range). This technique combines as many as 11 bracketed exposures to create the final image using 3rd party software and Photoshop. He can still use the “one light” method if necessary. One of the more active home builders in Phoenix, Ashton Woods Homes, is using Trotto’s HDR images for their architectural photography and has chosen Trotto as their photographer for all new properties in Texas, Georgia, North Carolina and Florida for cohesive, national branding. See samples on his blog. A blog posted on August 24, 2012 shows extensive retouching to remove clouds, fences and construction and to add garage doors and driveways where sales offices used to be. See before and after photos here.

Advertising Photography
Avnet hired Trotto to photograph people and product in 7 US cities to ensure a cohesive look to their national advertising campaigns. He also photographed people for national ad campaigns for Insight and a regional campaign for Cox Communications. In another regional ad campaign he photographed lifestyle and architecture for DMB Inc. you can read testimonials here.

Photo and Video Equipment Compliment Each Other
Not only is much of the equipment used in both media but many skills learned in one medium are used to enhance the other. “I am constantly surprised with how often equipment purchased or skills learned for video production are used in photography assignments.” Says Trotto. “I see a still photography shoot as a timeline and capture images that link to one another to tell a story.” Everyone will agree that a photographer’s trained eye is well suited for composing the video image and properly lighting the set.
